WHAT TO DO AFTER SECURING SHELTER

  • Search for truthful information.

  • Avoid spreading speculative information (assumptions) and rumors, get news through radio and television.

  • Seek information through regional or municipal fire departments, police departments and other public organizations and/or via the public administration’s disaster radio channel, applying and making use of information obtained.

  • Do not use the phone unnecessarily, strictly use what is necessary. Call fire departments to inquire about the situation only once it has happened as it could hinder rescue work.

  • If you must stay in the shelter community, collaborate so that all can collectively live together. If you have knowledge of the Japanese language, and are bilingual, help out by doing translations voluntarily.
